ZK-BGO was imported to NZ by Rural Aviation; it was originally destined for Aussie but was sent to NZ instead. She was fitted with a can and sent to work topdressing in the lower North Island until a small altercation with a ditch. Purchased by Amphibious with plans to be rebuilt as a float plane, she never made it to floats and was on sold to Southern Scenic Airways and was put back to work topdressing and fitted with supply drop racks for operations in the lower south.
Written off in an accident BGO was purchased and rebuilt without the can by Peter Lacy in Nelson. Leased to Nelson Aero Club for skydive duties before passing to Glenny Johnson at Heaphy Aero Taxi.
1975 saw a move to Auckland and then to Gisborne to return to skydive operations then via Ardmore back to the South Island with Neville Cooper and the Cust religious community, before being passed to Don Hart in Springfield. Group member Frank Wright purchased BGO and proceeded to rebuild and repaint into his colour scheme, which remains with our ownership today. Re-engined from an 0-470-A to an O-470-R in 2008 she operates with an 88” seaplane propeller on a Kosola mount.

REG: ZK-BUJ
Model: 180
Owner: R Davison

History:

BUJ was imported into NZ in 1957 and was used by Rural Aviation for topdressing and spraying until 1966 when she was then retired.
WW Contracting bought her for approximately $2000 and she then lead a life of carting whitebait out of Big Bay and deer recovery until Don Telford bought her and converted her to the four seat configuration.
I'm not sure how long Don owned her but a C Goldsmith from Balclutha had her for a short time in the early seventies and it was during his time that it had a slight accident on Stewart Island.
After it was fixed up in 1977 I bought her and have owned it ever since and is like a part of the family. We must surely rate as one of the longest owners of a 180 in this country.
I do not think there is a place in NZ that this aircraft and me have not been from Cape Reinga in the North to the bottom of Stewart Island.
Two around NZ Air Races to her credit and two prangs. One was when I lent it to a guy and she got blown away at CHC airport and they other when I landed on a steep uphill strip and the rudder pedal broke off. They bent the wing down and drove three wartahs inside it, fixed the pedal and flew here out to Dunedin. I then had both wings straightened and this aircraft is still original in all aspects and will cruise at the manual speed of 138kts. Truely a wonderful aircraft and we hope to keep it flying for a few more years yet.

REG: ZK-SIA
Model: 185A
S/N: 1850427
DOB: 1962
Previous REG: VH-SIA, VH-SIL
Owners: Ken Macdonald (President)
History:

This aircraft spent its first four years in PNG with the Rego VH-SIL (personalized letters for the Sumner Institute of Linguistics)
Then it went back to Australia to become VH-SIA. It had several owners that we do know of except Colin Wiles in Adelong before passing to Alan Macdonald (Cracker) in Charleville.

If anyone knows the other owners or have the original log books, please contact the current owner.

Alan used SIA for work as a carrot dropping machine among other duties. He was also the president of the 180/185 Club at the time.

It was ferried across the Tasman on the 19th Aug 2005 by Paul Macdonald for his brother Ken, the current owner.
SIA went fairly direct from Coffs harbor Australia to Lord Howe Island missing Norfolk Island direct into Auckland. After customs clearance it departed and arrived in Swannanoa just before dark having come from Lord Howe Island to Swannanoa in 1 day.
It officially had the "VH" removed and changed to "ZK" on the 27th September 2005

VH-SIA was purchased to replace ZK-PKM which was sold to Hugh McLellan from Queenstown. The original engine has been replaced with a IO-520 D.

Since arriving ZK-SIA has had a major rebuild, new paint, new interior including leather seats, cargo pod fitted, large tyres etc
